We started ZILLAL in a studio in Garden City. The light there changed every hour — from the cool blue of morning to the deep amber of late afternoon. So did the shirts we were sketching. We figured: what if they actually did that on a body?
Each piece is built around two states. Indoor — quiet, cool, present. Outdoor — saturated, warm, awake. The transition is the design.
We cut from heavy combed cotton at a local mill in Bulaq. Each drop is small — under three hundred units across nine pieces — sewn by a team of six.
